Bronzeville Sponsors Table at
Chicago Artists' Space And Housing Expo

Renowned Bronzeville artist Andre' Guichard
left in photo, acts as a facilitator at a Bronzeville display booth to
introduce artists to housing and gallery amenities available within the
historic Bronzeville community, at the Chicago Artists Space & Housing
Expo on Saturday, April 2, 2005 from 10:00 AM - 4PM at the Chicago Cultural
Center, 78 East Randolph Street.

The Bronzeville Comunity Development
Partnership sponsored display table at the Chicago Artists Space &
Housing Expo that featured a variety of art items, books, gifts and art
products produced by local art galleries and like Steel Life Gallery,
Little Black Pearl and artist like Andre' Guichard. The Chicago Department
of Cultural Affairs and Department of Housing invited Chicago's leading
housing specialists, arts service organizations, and neighborhood representatives
to the Chicago Cultural Center in order to give the general public an
introduction to a showcase of resources available to artist and art organizations.

The beautifully ornate Chicago Cultural
Center at 78 East Washington Street was the back drop for the Chicago
Artists Space & Housing Expo. The Expo was a direct response to numerous
requests by artists for affordable space for living, working, rehearsing
and presenting. There were many options available -- from buying your
own home to collaborating with other artists in rehabbing condominium
projects, to leasing storefront space on historic commercial corridors.
Visitors to the Expo also found specialists in insurance, small business
practice and legal advice as well as lots of arts and service organizations
ready to lend the arts community their expertise.
Saturday,
April 2; 10am - 4pm
78 E. Washington St., Chicago
More than 80 exhibitors, as well as workshops and seminars addressing
the living and work space needs of artists and arts organizations, will
be presented at the second annual Chicago Artists Space and Housing Expo.
Co-sponsored by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Department
of Housing, the expo will offer comprehensive information on topics such
as home ownership, affordable housing, studio safety, investment property,
health insurance, rehearsal and shared space, city codes and services
and much more.
This year’s expanded expo will offer information on buying tax
delinquent properties, green design and more information on health insurance
and City space initiatives for artists. Exhibitors and presenters will
be drawn from art service organizations; government housing agencies;
local community housing and housing counseling organizations; major banks
and lending institutions; Chicago Association of Realtors and individual
brokers who specialize in artists space; developers, construction firms
and other companies that specialize in housing-related goods and services.
